In the early hours of March 13, 2024, the Willmar community was shaken by the unexpected passing of 33-year-old Natasha Mae Fester, a dedicated mental health professional and beloved mother of four.
A Life Rooted in Willmar
Born on September 13, 1990, in Willmar, Minnesota, Natasha, affectionately known as “Tasha,” was the daughter of Jeff and Lisa (Chase) Adkins. Her early years were marked by active participation in school activities, including the Cardettes Dance Team, volleyball, track, and FFA, reflecting her outgoing nature and ability to forge lasting friendships.
Pursuit of Nursing Excellence
Natasha’s commitment to healthcare was evident in her academic journey. She earned her LPN degree from Ridgewater College, followed by an RN from Rasmussen College in St. Cloud, and ultimately a BSN from Mankato State. Her dedication culminated in August 2023 when she achieved her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Degree from the University of North Dakota. In November 2023, she began serving as a PMHNP at CentraCare Rice Memorial Hospital, where her compassion and dedication left an indelible mark on both patients and colleagues.
Family at the Heart
On July 7, 2012, Natasha married Matthew Fester at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. Their union was blessed with four children: Mason (12), Marshel (8), Maxton (5), and MaKinlee (3). Natasha’s life revolved around her family; she was a fervent supporter of her children’s activities, from sports to go-kart racing, always cheering the loudest and offering the warmest hugs.
Passions Beyond Profession
Beyond her professional and familial commitments, Natasha had a zest for life that encompassed various hobbies. She had a penchant for DIY projects, often immersing herself in Pinterest-inspired creations. Her love for demo derbies and stock car racing was well-known, and she shared a special bond with her father, who affectionately nicknamed her “Harold.”
A Community Mourns
Natasha’s sudden departure has left a void in the hearts of many. She is survived by her husband, children, parents, brother, and extended family, all of whom cherished her deeply. Her legacy of kindness, dedication, and unwavering support for her loved ones and community will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Final Farewell
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on March 18, 2024, at the Church of St. Mary in Willmar, with visitation services preceding at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home. The community gathered to honor Natasha’s memory, celebrating a life that, though brief, was filled with love, service, and an enduring commitment to others.
